Excel Tower Service Racing Announces Charlie Sandercock as Driver for Upcoming World of Outlaw Late Model Events in the Sunshine State Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
“We are very
excited to travel down to Florida this year and follow the World of
Outlaw Late Model schedule while we are here”, says team owner and
usual driver Greg Belyea who is stepping out of car in favor of fellow
competitor Charlie Sandercock, who battled Belyea for the Brighton
Speedway championship through the final week of the 2011 season.
“We are going to give Charlie a chance to see what he can do
with the open motor car, and are very excited to have him on board”. Sandercock will pilot
the Excel Tower Racing entry with his own familiar number 57 adorning
the side of the car. Sandercock
adapted quickly to the Late Model division over the past two seasons
after running a Canadian Modified at his home track, Brighton Speedway
previously. “It will be a lot
of fun to get away to Florida in February and go racing”, adds Belyea.
“We made the trip a few years ago, and we learned a lot, and I
feel that we are much more prepared this time around. We
know it will be a really competitive field down there, and hopefully we
can have a good outing with Charlie in the car.
It will be a long stretch of racing, but it will be a great way
to start of the season”. For more information

Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
As the summer heated
up, so did Belyea, posting an incredible string of top five finishes
lasting from mid June through the first week of September.
In that 20 race stretch, Belyea also had three Brighton Speedway
victories to his credit, and held the points lead at both Brighton and
Can Am through late season. Belyea also ran the
full Ontario Dirt Late Model Series schedule, finishing third place in
points with finishes of fourth at Brighton Speedway, fifth at South
Buxton Speedway, and a disappointing 13th at Brockville.
The final race of the series was scheduled at Cornwall Speedway,
but was canceled due to rain. As the season began
to wind down, Belyea remained at the top of the standings at Brighton,
but slipped to second as the experience of teammate Lee Gill took over,
taking the top spot. By the
end of the year, Belyea won the championship at Brighton, and remained
second at Can Am. Belyea also followed
the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series this season, finishing fifth
in series points. He opened
the series with a sixth place finish at Can Am, and also posted finishes
of 15th (Fulton Speedway), 8th (Can Am), and 16th
(Fulton Speedway). “In 21 years of
racing, this is the first time we have ever put ourselves in a position
to contend for a championship”, says Belyea.
“It is pretty exciting to finally get one here at Brighton, and
we had a lot of fun racing Lee all year at Can Am.
I really have to thank Lee and his crew for all their help this
season. I have learned a
lot racing alongside them. Lee
is a lot of fun, and he is just really good at this.
It has just been a blessing being hooked up with those guys. I also have to thank my wife Shari for all her help and
support. She stands behind
all this craziness that we do, and that means a lot to me”. Belyea along with the
Brighton Speedway presented the 1st Annual Great Crate Race
at Brighton Speedway in September.
The $5000 to win event, with a purse of more then $20000 caught
the attention of many local racers, and drew cars from Ontario, New York
and Pennsylvania. The
inaugural winner was Lee Gill, while Belyea finished the race in second. “Mark (Rinaldi) and
I really work well together, and we hope to be able to do this Crate
Race again next year”, says Belyea.
“We had a good turnout of cars this year, and hope it will be
even better next year”. As the 2011 season
ends, and Belyea and the Excel Tower Service team get ready for 2012,
there will be an addition to the fleet of cars in the racing stable. Not only will Belyea compete in the Late Model division, he
now has a Sprint Car, and he anxiously awaits his first appearance with
the winged warriors. “I talked it over
with my wife and we decided to purchase the Sprint Car”, says Belyea.
I think it will be a lot of fun, and that is our main objective
with this racing stuff is to go out and have fun.
As long as we can do that and be competitive and it doesn’t
interfere too much with the business then we will keep racing whenever
we can. We are definitely
going to do Brighton full time with the Crate Late Model, and hopefully
do some open motor shows as well, plus a few races with the Sprint
Car”. For more information

Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
“We are at a bit of
a disadvantage here because most cars run the American Racer tire, and
we decided not to buy a set just for this one race, and we are still on
our regular Hoosier tires that we race at Can Am and Brighton”, says
Belyea. “We still hope to
get a good finish here and have some fun”. In the 25 lap main
event, Belyea started from deep in the field in 23rd
position. After getting
caught up in a wreck on lap two, Belyea had minimal damage and was able
to continue on. It was a
struggle right from the start, and when the checkered flag was displayed
to the field, he was credited with a 16th place finish. “It was tough going
out there, and we realized that it probably would be”, says Belyea
after the race. “We
wanted to come down here and support Shayne (Tenace) and the Go Nuclear
Series and we had a good time”. The final race of the
2011 season for Belyea will come on Thursday night at Rolling Wheels
Raceway in Elbridge, New York with the World of Outlaw Late Models.
The Excel Tower Service team will be looking to end the season
with a good performance against the best of the best when it comes to
Late Model Racing. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Belyea Earns First Career Track Championship at Brighton Speedway Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
Saturday night was
the final night of points at the track, and Belyea entered the evening
with a sizeable 155-point lead. Belyea
won his qualifying heat, and just needed to start the feature to earn
his first ever track championship.
Belyea went on to finish the 25 lap main event in seventh place
and was honoured in victory lane at the end of the night for his
championship season. “Of all the years
that we have raced, this year was the first time that we have ever been
in a position to win a championship.
Work commitments always kept us from running a full season, and
we never really chased the points”, says Belyea.
“This year we have been fortunate enough to contend for the
title here as well as Can Am, and to get that first championship here at
Brighton is pretty special”. Belyea is quick to
thank Lee Gill and his team for the help over the course of the 2011
racing season. “Lee and his team
have been great competitors, and even more importantly, they have been
great friends”, say Belyea. I have to thank all of them for their help
this season, and we look forward to working with them again next
year”. In 36 races this
season, Belyea has posted a remarkable 34 top ten finishes, 30 of those
finishes were inside the top five, including seven feature wins. Five of those wins came at Brighton Speedway, with the other
two coming early in the season at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park. Belyea still has a
couple of races that he hopes to attend before the 2011 season comes to
an end. This Friday, they
plan to travel to Fulton Speedway for the final race in the Go Nuclear
Late Model Challenge Series. On
Thursday, October 6th the plan to run the open motor car
against the World of Outlaw Late Models at Rolling Wheels Raceway. For more information

Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
Belyea finished his
qualifying heat in fifth place, and lined up for the 65 lap main event
from deep in the field, on the outside of the seventh row in 14th
place. Despite several
cautions, Belyea was able to move up through the field and by lap 15 he
was into the top five. The
marathon race, which was slowed up by several caution periods and two
red flags continued, and Belyea continued to run a strong race and by
the halfway point he was up to second.
Belyea challenged the race leader on a late race restart, but an
untimely caution before the lap had been complete put him back to
second, and that is where he finished. “It was a good run
for us, but a real tough race to get a rhythm going with all the
cautions”, says Belyea. “I
was trying everything I had to get by Lee (Gill), but he just has too
much experience in these Late Models”. This coming weekend
is the annual Applefest Weekend at Brighton, and Belyea is hoping to lay
claim to his first ever track championship.
He currently holds a commanding 155 point lead going into the
final race of the season for the Late Models on Saturday night.
In addition, Belyea, and Excel Tower Service along with Brighton
Speedway have just recently announced a Late Model dash for cash of the
Friday portion of Applefest Weekend with the winner receiving $500. “We have never put
our selves in a position to win a championship before in all the years
that we have been racing”, says Belyea.
“With the business, and being so busy all the time, we just
have not had the chance to run anywhere for a full season and battle for
a championship until this season”. After this weekend,
Belyea hopes to race at Fulton Speedway for the final race of the Go
Nuclear Late Model Challenge on September 30th, and will have
the open motor in the car at Rolling Wheels Raceway on October 6th
with the World of Outlaw Late Models.
The final two events of the season will depend on time and work
commitments. “It has been a
great season, we have had a lot of fun, and have met some great people.
We have had some wins, and maybe a track championship”, says
Belyea. I have to thank
everyone that has helped us and supported us through the year and we
look forward to the remaining events this year and coming back strong in
2012”. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Belyea Looking to Clinch 2011 Brighton Late Model Championship; Great Crate Race Coming up This Weekend Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
Belyea started the
weekend at Can Am for the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series.
He started his qualifying heat from the front row, but the car
was not handling, and he slid back through the field and finished
eighth. In the 25 lap main
event, he started from outside of the seventh row in 14th
position. While the car was
better then it was earlier, Belyea still had to deal with handling
issues, but moved up slowly during the course of the race.
By lap 10 he was in 11th place, and was up to ninth
with just ten laps remaining. Belyea
ended the race with an eighth place finish. At Brighton Speedway,
Belyea is locked in a battle for the track championship. He started the night with the preliminary qualifying heats,
and Belyea finished third after moving up at the green flag from his
seventh place starting position. In
the 25 lap feature, Belyea had started 11th, and began to
move up, but on lap five, he had to make an evasive move and to the
infield and knocked a tire onto the track.
Belyea would have to start from the rear of the 18 car field, and
began to march his way back to the front of the pack.
At the checkered flag, he had climbed back up to third place. “We are pretty
happy with that, considering we had to come from the back”, says
Belyea. “We leave here
with a pretty good points lead, and we look forward to the final two
events of the season”. Belyea will be back
at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park one last time in 2011 on Friday
night, before going back to Brighton Speedway for the much anticipated
Great Crate Race at Brighton Speedway on Saturday.
The unprecedented $5000 to win Late Model event will see cars
from all over Ontario, New York State, Pennsylvania and beyond battle
for a purse of more then $20000. For

“This place is
amazing. The facility, the
lighting, the track itself is just phenomenal”, says Belyea.
“We had a great night here and we look forward to coming back
in the future”. On Friday night,
Belyea traveled to Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park for the final
point race of the season. He
entered the night 10 points behind Lee Gill for the 2011 Late Model
championship. After finishing second in his preliminary qualifier, he was
ready for the 20 lap main event. Belyea
rolled off the starting grid from inside of the second row in third
place. Belyea stayed in the
top five for the entire race, and despite a valiant effort to get the
lead on the final lap of the race, he crossed the line in third place,
and finished the season second in track points. “That last lap was
pretty exciting as we tried to go for the lead”, says Belyea.
“Congratulations to Lee Gill and his team for winning the
championship. We had fun
running with them all season long”. Brighton Speedway
hosted a special “Topless” night at the track on Sunday evening
featuring the Late Models without their roof.
Belyea finished second in his qualifying heat race and went on to
win the 25 lap main event. This coming weekend
Belyea hopes to make it to Can Am on Friday night for the Go Nuclear
Challenge Series race. On
Saturday night, he will be back at Brighton Speedway looking to capture
another win, and possibly clinch his first ever Track Championship. Greg Belyea and Excel

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Belyea Gets Second Place Finish at Can Am; Eyes Can Am and Brighton Championships Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
This past weekend
Belyea made the usual Friday night visit to Can Am, looking to get back
into championship contention. After
crashing last week in the qualifier the Gilco team spent several hours
in the shop getting the car repaired.
The hard work paid off as Belyea went out and won his preliminary
qualifier. In the 20 lap
main event, Belyea started on the front row and led the opening laps of
the race before dropping to second.
Belyea finished the race in second place, and moving to within
ten points in the battle for the championship. “The car was really
good tonight”, says Belyea. “I
have the thank Lee and the Gilco team for all their hard work in the
shop this week. The car was
a mess after last Friday night and they put in some long hours getting
it ready for me”. On Saturday night,
Belyea made a rare appearance at the Fulton Speedway for the next round
of the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series.
Belyea started on the front row in his qualifying heat but slid
back to fifth before the checkered flag. “The car is way to
loose right now”, explains Belyea.
“We are going to make some adjustments and hopefully we can get
the car dialed in for the feature”. The changes on the
car didn’t help, as Belyea started from 13th and maintained
that spot throughout the duration of the race.
This coming weekend,
Belyea will make his first ever visit to the Mohawk International
Raceway in Hogansburg, New York on Thursday night as they host a
qualifier for the Great Crate Race.
On Friday night will be the final night of points at Chapman’s
Can Am Motorsports Park, and the weekend will close with a rare Sunday
night race at Brighton Speedway as the Late Model division goes topless. Greg Belyea and Excel

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Belyea Salvages Top Five Finish at Can Am; Tough Night at Brockville With ODLM Series Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
Belyea arrived at Can
Am on Friday afternoon, looking to regain their point lead that they
have had for most of the season. He
entered the night just four points out of the lead.
After a crash in his qualifying heat, the night looked like it
was going to end early for Belyea, with no time to fix the damages.
It wasn’t long before another competitor (Dean Patterson) came
over to Belyea’s pit area, and after hearing that the car was done for
the evening, he insisted that Greg use his car for the feature.
Belyea drove the car to a fifth place finish, keeping him in
contention for the championship.
“I do not know Dean
Patterson all that well, and when he offered up his car for the feature
I had to consider it carefully”, says Belyea.
“The thought of what would happen if I get in a wreck crossed
my mind, and when I mentioned that to Mr. Patterson he told me not to
worry. I really have to
thank Dean for everything he does for our sport, and for offering us his
car for the feature”. The rest of the
weekend, Belyea had the Ontario Dirt Late Model Series on his schedule
with stops at Brockville Speedway on Saturday and Cornwall Speedway on
Sunday. Belyea was fast
early, setting the second fastest speed overall out of the 30 car field
in practice. In his
qualifying heat race, he started from the sixth position and quickly
began moving up through the field.
By lap three he was into a qualifying spot, but just one lap
later he was involved in a spin in turn two, and had to restart from the
rear. With handling issues
during the qualifier, Belyea was forced to run the B-Main.
He started at the rear of the field again, and charged to second
place, solidifying his spot in the 30 lap main event.
Belyea rolled off the starting grid from the 16th
position. Again he started
moving up through the field and was up to 12 for a lap two restart.
Belyea escaped major damage in a multi-car pile up in turn one on
lap ten that brought out the red flag, and when the race resumed, he was
now up to eighth place. On lap 21, Belyea’s car drifted high off the banking and
lost several positions and finished the race with a disappointing 13th
place finish. The final race in the
ODLM Series was set for Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night. With a persistent rain falling all morning, Cornwall
officials made the decision to cancel the racing program. Belyea ended the ODLM Series third in overall points. This coming weekend,
Belyea will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday
night, looking to gain some valuable points as he chases Lee Gill for
the 2011 track championship. Belyea
is currently 16 points out of the lead, with just two points races
remaining. Greg Belyea and Excel
Tower Service along with the Brighton Speedway would like to remind
everyone about the Great Crate Race taking place at the Brighton

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Greg Belyea Rebounds With a Win and Second Place Finish at Can Am and Brighton; ODLM Series Events Coming Up Next Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
Friday night didn’t
start well for Belyea as he was making his way to the track and the
team’s hauler broke down just past the Gananoque exit on the 401. A water pump failure sent Belyea scurrying for a backup plan
and not long after there was another truck and trailer on its way to
meet with Belyea and unload the essentials from the broken down vehicle
into the new one. Belyea
made it to the track in time, and was hoping to turn his night around
with a solid run at Can Am. He
started third in his qualifying heat race, and advanced to second place
at the checkered flag. In
the 20 lap main event, Belyea rolled off the starting grid from the
fourth position. After
several attempts at a lap two restart, Belyea was now up third, and
continued in that position until halfway where me made his move to take
over the runner-up spot. Belyea
finished the race with a solid second place run. “We had a good run
here tonight. We wanted to
come out strong and have a good night tonight.
It was fun to race against Kenny Wallace, it is a shame they he
wasn’t able to finish the race”, says Belyea.
“We almost didn’t even make it here tonight with the hauler
breaking down on the way here. I
have to thank every that offered us a helping hand while we were broke
down”. Brighton Speedway was
up next on Saturday evening, and the night started off with preliminary
qualifying heat races. Belyea
started his heat race from sixth place and charged to the front of the
pack taking the victory. In
the 25 lap main event, Belyea lined up from the 11th position
at the green flag and began to move his way forward.
The car was working well, and by halfway he was ready to make his
challenge for the lead. By
lap 17 Belyea had the top spot and cruised to the win. “I am very happy
with our weekend, it was a great recovery from the previous week”,
says Belyea. “I really
have to thank Lee (Gill) Chuck and Kevin (Meyers) for coming up and
helping us with our program tonight at Brighton”. This coming weekend
Belyea will be back at Can Am on Friday night with the Crate Late Model,
and then will run the final two races of the Ontario Dirt Late Model
Series on Saturday and Sunday night with the open motor at Brockville
Speedway and Cornwall Speedway respectively.
Belyea had mixed results last year in the ODLM swing through
Eastern Ontario, crashing out early at Brockville, and then rebounding
with a solid top five finish at Cornwall.
Belyea is currently third place in points, only nine points out
of the lead. A Series
champion will be crowned on Sunday night at Cornwall. Greg Belyea and Excel

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Frustrating Weekend Now in the Past for Greg Belyea; Looking Ahead to This Coming Weekend Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
After arriving at Can
Am on Friday evening, Belyea unloaded the car, and prepared for the
preliminary heat races. After
winning his qualifier convincingly, Belyea came back to the pits to make
some minor changes to the car to keep up with the changing track
conditions. The car was not as strong as it was early in the race, but he
was holding his own in the top five for much of the race. On lap 17, Belyea was running in fifth position and the third
place car had spun out. Belyea
spun to avoiding hitting the other car, and instead of getting his spot
back, he was sent to the rear of the field.
After talking to race officials about his position on the track,
he was not happy, and took his car to the pits for the night under the
direction of track officials. “It was just an
ugly situation, which led to some heated arguments in the pits, and I am
not proud of that”, says Belyea.
“Sometimes passion leads to negative energy and aggression and
I wish I had have handled the situation differently.
We do this racing for fun and to relax.
Life is to short, and I have had to give myself a reality check
over the last couple days”. The next race on the
schedule for Belyea was Saturday night at Brighton Speedway.
Belyea began the night with the usual qualifying heats.
He started from the sixth position, and climbed to fourth.
He returned to the pit area after the race, and began to make
some adjustments to the car to get in handling better for the 25 lap
main event. Belyea lined up
in the outside of the fourth row in the eighth position, and quickly
realized that the car was better. He
moved through the field, and crossed the finish line in third place.
The frustrations returned during post race tech inspection, when
track officials claimed there was an issue with the carburetor on the
Excel Tower Service Late Model. The situation is currently under appeal. “We had a decent
run, but apparently they have found an issue with our carburetor”,
says Belyea after the race. “It
is the same one that we have been using for a year and a half, so I am
not sure what the problem is now. We
are working with Mark (Rinaldi) to try and get the issue resolved.
He has been very professional about the whole situation and asked
us if we wanted a second opinion which we are still waiting on”. Belyea will be back
at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park this coming Friday night, and
will be racing against NASCAR driver and Speed TV Commentator Kenny
Wallace who will strap into a Late Model on Friday night.
Belyea will also be at Brighton this coming Saturday night, and
then will continue the Ontario Dirt Late Model Series the following
weekend at the Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday, August 20th,
before concluding the series at Cornwall Speedway on Sunday, August 21st. Greg Belyea and Excel
Tower Service along with the Brighton Speedway would like to remind
everyone about the Great Crate Race taking place at the Brighton

South Buxton Raceway
has a unique D-Shaped layout to the track, and Belyea was looking
forward to round two of the Ontario Dirt Late Model Series.
With a fourth place finish in the Series first race last week at
Brighton, Belyea hoped to build some momentum going into round two of
the ODLM Series. In 2010,
Belyea was named rookie of the year for series, and is looking to
contend for the championship in their four race series.
Belyea began the night with a second place finish in his
qualifying heat, and topped that off with another solid fifth place
finish, moving him to third in the series point standings only nine
points out of the lead. Next up on the
scheduled for Belyea and the Excel Tower Service race team will be
Friday night at Can Am Motorsports Park before returning back home to
race at Brighton Speedway on Saturday.
Belyea is the current points leader at both tracks, holding a
slim 18 point advantage at Can Am, while having a 70 point advantage at
Brighton. The Ontario Dirt Late

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Belyea Gets Fourth at Can Am on Friday Night; Opens ODLM Series at Brighton Speedway With Another Fourth Place Finish Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
Belyea left his
Frankford, Ontario home on Friday and made his way to Chapman’s Can Am
Motorsports Park in Lafargeville, New York.
After struggling in his qualifying heat, he and the team made
several changes to the car trying to get it dialed in before the 20 lap
main event. He started
outside of the fifth row in the tenth position and by lap five he was up
to seventh. At the halfway point in the race, Belyea was now in sixth and
advanced two more spots in the second half of the race to finish fourth.
Belyea now has an 18-point lead over teammate and friend Lee
Gill. Brighton Speedway was
up next as they hosted the first round of the Ontario Dirt Late Model
Series. Belyea started on
the front row of his qualifying heat and out dueled Lee Gill to take the
heat race win. During
intermission, Belyea along with the rest of the Brighton Speedway
competitors brought their cars onto the front straightaway for a fan
appreciation autograph session. The
50 lap Late Model feature was up next, and Belyea started the race
outside the front row. As the race began, his car was very loose and he fell back to
fourth place early on. At a
lap 13 caution, Belyea relinquished his fourth place position to come
into the pits to make some changes to the car.
He restarted the race from the back of the 24 car field, and
despite several cautions he was able to work his way back up through the
field to finish in fourth place. “The car was very
loose at the start of the race. I
decided that it was best to come in and make some adjustments on the car
early and it was much better after that”, says Belyea.
“It was a tough race and we had a lot of cautions, but we
brought the car home in one piece with no damage”. Belyea will be back
at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night. On Saturday, the Late Models have the night off at Brighton
Speedway, but they will be back in action at South Buxton Speedway for

“I don’t recall
ever being this far into the season and still leading the points like we
are here at Can Am and Brighton”, says Belyea.
“We do this for fun and my business comes before racing. If we go all year long an not miss a week and win the
championship that is great, but our main goal is to come out and have
fun every time we are at the track.
I really have to thank Lee (Gill) and his crew for the work they
do on the cars during the week for me, as that has helped out
tremendously this season”. First up for the
weekend was a double header at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on
Friday night. After last
week’s feature was postponed due to a power failure at the track, it
was the first on the agenda as racing resumed.
Belyea started from the sixth position, and began to challenge
for the lead just seven laps into the race.
Belyea took the lead on lap nine, and held the top spot for three
laps before dropping to second after a ferocious battle with teammate
and friend Lee Gill for the next several laps.
Belyea finished the race in second place. “We had a great
battle with Lee for a few laps. He is real tough to beat at this place.
I think he has turned more laps here then anyone, and his
experience certainly paid off”, says Belyea. Belyea took the lead
on lap two of his qualifying heat and cruised to victory, setting the
stage for another great battle in the night’s scheduled Crate Late
Model Main event. He lined
up for the feature in the seventh position.
The first caution of the race came on lap three, and Belyea was
now into the top five. By
lap six, Belyea was up to third, and he maintained that position for the
remainder of the event. On Saturday night at
Brighton Speedway, Belyea started the evening with qualifying heats, and
started from the seventh position.
At the checkered flag, he had moved up to second place. In the 25 lap main event, he started from outside row four in
the eighth position, and finished with a strong third place run. This coming weekend
Belyea will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday
night with the Crate Late Model, before bringing out the other car on
Saturday night with the Open Motor for the Ontario Dirt Late Model
Series opener at Brighton Speedway on Saturday night. Greg Belyea and Excel

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Belyea Gets Top Five Finish at Brighton; Power Failure Sets Up Double Features This Friday Night at Can Am Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
First up was
Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night.
Belyea started the night with qualifying heats and he started
from the fourth position. The
heat race was a bit of a struggle, and he dropped to fifth at the
checkered flag. After
getting back to the pits, Belyea and the team made some adjustments to
the car and hoped it would be much better for the feature.
Belyea was all set to start the Late Model main event from the
eighth position but as the cars rolled onto the track, the power went
out. After a short delay
the lights were back up and working again, but only briefly as a lap two
yellow slowed the pace, and then the lights went out again.
The race will resume this coming Friday night before the start of
the scheduled program. At Brighton Speedway
on Saturday night, Belyea began the night with his qualifying heat race.
He started from the third position and jumped out to the lead.
He won the qualifying event, and started ninth in the main event.
Belyea climbed to sixth early in the race, but was unable to move
any further until the final laps of the race where he advanced to fourth
place. “We were really
lacking side bite in the corners. The
track was pretty dry and slick tonight.
We salvaged a pretty decent finish out of this, and we will move
on and hope for better results next week”, says Belyea. This coming weekend,
Belyea will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday
night with double features. On
Saturday morning, Belyea will be out on the track at Can Am testing his
open motor car before heading to Brighton Speedway on Saturday night.
Belyea will be busy with the open motor car later this month with
Ontario DIRT Late Model Series races at Brighton on July 23rd

Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
At Can Am on Friday
night, Belyea started the night off with a third place finish in his
qualifying heat race after starting from fourth.
In the 20 lap Late Model main event, Belyea lined up from inside
the fourth row in position number seven.
Belyea moved up patiently, moving into the top five before
halfway. Belyea held the fifth spot through most of the second half,
and advance one more spot to fourth in the closing laps. With the fourth
place finish, Belyea retains his point lead and now has a 10 point lead
after nine races this season. Brighton Speedway
hosted a Canada Day weekend summer classis on Saturday night with double
points and extended laps for the Late Model division.
With Belyea 35 points out of the lead, the double point would be
a perfect opportunity to gain some ground.
With time trials up first for the special Canada Day Weekend
Classic, Belyea posted the fourth fastest speed.
He then went on to dominate his qualifying heat race.
Starting fourth in the feature, Belyea was hoping to get to the
front and claim the 50 lap main event, which offered a guaranteed
starting spot for the $5000 to win Great Crate Race at Brighton in
September. Belyea dropped
to sixth at the start, and maintained that position through the first
half of the race. Just past
the halfway point, Belyea jumped to the top side of the track and
charged his way to the front, taking the lead on lap 35.
A caution on lap 41 bunched the field and made for an exciting
nine lap dash to the checkered. Belyea
continued to lead on the restart, but as they were coming for the white
flag, the car pushed up the track causing Belyea to lose the lead.
He crossed the finish line in second place and with the double
points, he finished the night with the points lead, ahead by 105 points. This coming weekend,
Belyea will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday
night, and Brighton Speedway on Saturday.
The next race in the Go Nuclear Challenge Series will be held at
the Fulton Speedway on August 27th. Belyea also has some
big events planned in the month of July with the open motor car.
He will race at Brighton Speedway on July 23rd with

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Belyea Returns to Victory Lane at Brighton Speedway on Saturday Night After Last Lap Thriller; Rain Postpones Series Race at Brewerton Speedway Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
Belyea arrived at
Brewerton Speedway early Friday afternoon, and was hoping the weather
would continue to hold off. Unfortunately,
a late afternoon shower came through the area, forcing track officials
to cancel. The Go Nuclear
Challenge Series representatives are still working on a make up date for
this event. After the long drive
back home, Belyea and the team began to prepare for Saturday night’s
races at Brighton Speedway. Entering
the evening, he trailed Charlie Sandercock in the battle for the
Brighton Speedway Late Model track championship by 45 points.
In his qualifying heat, Belyea started from the sixth position,
and despite the ill-handling car, he managed to move up to fourth at the
checkered flag. “The car was just
way too tight in the heat race”, says Belyea.
“We will make some adjustments and hopefully we can get it
working better for the 25 lap feature”. Starting ninth in the
main event, Belyea knew he had some work to do to get to the front of
the field. A yellow on lap
2 slowed Belyea up, and he fell back to 12th place as he
slowed down to avoid the cars that had brought out the yellow.
Belyea had a fast car, and the changes that were made after the
heat race were exactly what the car needed.
By lap 20 Belyea had moved up to second, but the leader was a
half-track ahead. Just when it appeared Belyea was going to have to
settle for second, the caution came out, and now the race was on for the
top spot. On the ensuing
restart Belyea was on the bottom and Sandercock on the high side, and
the two drivers put on a fantastic battle in the final lap.
At the checkered flag, Belyea won by half a car length, and
picked up his third win of the year at Brighton and fifth overall in
2011. By winning, he trimmed 10 points off Sandercock’s point
lead, and now trails by only 35 points. “Charlie and I had
a real fun race there at the end. The
track was in great shape, we could race the top or the bottom, it
didn’t matter”, says Belyea after the feature.
It is no secret that
Greg Belyea loves to race, and it doesn’t matter what the vehicle is
that he is driving. When
the opportunity to race a minivan on Saturday night at Brighton with
wife Shari came up, Belyea accepted without hesitation.
Belyea started fifth in the fun event, and finished third This coming weekend,
Belyea will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday
night, and Brighton Speedway on Saturday night to kick off their Canada
Day weekend Celebration. Greg Belyea and Excel

Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
At Chapman’s Can Am
Motorsports Park on Friday night, Belyea started the night with an 8 lap
qualifying heat. As the
point leader, he had to start from the back of the pack.
He worked his way forward slightly, but after a spin on the last
lap, he was scored at the back of the field at the finish. In the 20 lap Late Model main event, Belyea lined up in
eighth place. With five
laps in, he was up to seventh, and climbed one more spot at the
checkered flag to finish sixth. The
previous week at Can Am, Lee Gill used Belyea’s back up car and
cruised to victory lane, and Gill repeated that performance this week as
he waits to get his new car ready for action.
Belyea’s point lead at Can Am continues, but his lead was cut
in half from 28 points to 14 points. Can Am will be closed this Friday night, and the track is
undergoing some reconstruction. Racing
at Can Am will resume on July 1st. On Saturday night at
Brighton, Belyea started the 25 lap Late Model feature from deep in the
field. He cruised through
the field, getting as high as second before settling for third place at
the checkered flag. Belyea
currently sits second in track points at Brighton Speedway, just 30
points out of the lead. Belyea will make his
second visit of the season at Brewerton Speedway on Friday night, as
they are hosting the second round in the Go Nuclear Late Model
Challenge Series. The
winner of this race will join Lee Gill as a guaranteed starter for the
Great Crate Race at Brighton in September.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Belyea Returns to Victory Lane at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park; Finishes Second at Brighton Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
At Can Am on Friday
evening, The Go Nuclear Late Model series got underway with a full field
of 26 Late Models in the pit area.
Greg Belyea had both of his cars on hand, and had planned to have
Chuck Meyers in his back up car. Meyers
drove the car to victory lane at Can Am just a few weeks back.
In the warm up session before the race started, Belyea’s
teammate and friend Lee Gill had a violent wreck in turn 4, destroying
his own car. Meyers stepped
aside, and now Gill would pilot the Belyea back up car for the rest of
the night. The first order of
events at Can Am was qualifying heats for the Late Models, and Belyea
went out and picked up the win. With
the top four cars from each heat redrawing for starting position, Belyea
was hoping to get a good starting spot for the main event.
Belyea drew position number nine and lined up inside the fifth
row to start the 25-lap showdown. Belyea
moved up to eighth on the first lap of event, and seemed stuck in that
position until a lap 18 red flag brought the field to a halt after a
crash involving the race leader and a lapped car.
Now in seventh place on the restart, Belyea advanced just one
more spot and crossed the finish line in sixth. “We were hoping for
a much better run tonight to start the series”, says Belyea. “We seemed to struggle coming up through the pack.
Congrats to Lee on his win, he didn’t start the night off very
well after backing his car into the wall in practice, so it is nice to
see him rebound with a win”. With a late afternoon
rain storm, Brighton Speedway was forced to cancel their Saturday night
program. Belyea currently
sits second in points at Brighton Speedway, just 10 points out of the
lead. Belyea will be back
at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park this Friday night and another
stop at Brighton Speedway is in store for Saturday evening. The next race in the Go Nuclear Series will be Friday, June

Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
Belyea started the
Late Model feature at Can Am from the middle of the pack, but as they
complete lap one, he was already up to the top five.
With two laps in the caution flag was displayed, and Belyea was
now running solidly in the third position.
After getting back to green the caution came out once again two
laps later giving Belyea to make his charge for the lead.
Belyea completed the winning pass on lap four and cruised to the
win at Can Am increasing his point lead to 28 markers ahead of teammate
Lee Gill. On Saturday night at
Brighton, Belyea started his qualifying heat from the fifth position and
drove his way to the front of the field taking the checkered flag.
Before the feature events got underway, Belyea took the time to
sign some autographs for the fans during fan appreciation night at the
track. In the 25 lap main
event, he rolled off the starting grid from the third position and took
the lead early. It appeared
that Belyea was going to take his second win of the weekend until lapped
traffic caused him to slow up, and he lost the lead.
He finished the race in second place, falling 10 points behind
race winner Charlie Sandercock in the battle for the 2011 Brighton
Speedway Late Model championship. “We were really
hoping for the win tonight, but Charlie (Sandercock) had the better
car”, says Belyea. “We
were just to loose tonight, and the lapped traffic really didn’t help
at all. It was a good points night for us though.
I have to thank everyone for coming out here tonight, the fan
turnout was great for fan appreciation night and it was great to be able
to talk to all the fans”. Belyea will be back

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Belyea Gets Rained Out at Can Am; A top Three Finish at Brighton Slips Away in the Closing Laps Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
An all day rain
forced Can Am to cancel their program early on Friday, shifting the
team’s focus to the Saturday night event at Brighton where Belyea
entered the evening as the current points leader at the track. Belyea rolled off the
starting grid for the 25 lap feature from the ninth position.
He worked his way through the field, and used a lap 11 restart to
take second place. As he began to chase down the race leader, who happened to be
teammate and friend Lee Gill, Belyea also had to fight to hold on to
second. With three laps to
go, Belyea’s car jumped loose, causing the car to spin out of control.
He would restart from the back of the pack, and finished the race
in 12th. “I am not sure what
happened there at the end”, says Belyea.
We were having a great battle with Lee (Gill) and Charlie
(Sandercock) for the win, and we just lost it there with three to go”. Belyea will be back

Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
On Friday
afternoon, Belyea arrived in Lafargeville, New York to get ready for
Friday night’s races at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park.
Before the races started, Belyea took the time to sign autographs
for the Can Am Kids Club, and enjoyed visiting with young race fans.
Earlier in the day, Belyea and the team made the decision to put
Chuck Meyers in the backup car for Friday night, and that decision paid
off, as Meyers ended collecting the win.
In their qualifying heats, Belyea and Meyers battled for third
and fourth for much of the race, Meyers eventually advanced to second,
while Belyea finished fourth. The Excel Tower
team went to work, making some adjustments to both cars before the
20-lap feature got underway. Belyea
started the feature from sixth, while Meyers lined up directly behind
him in the eighth position. By
halfway, Meyers moved up to second, but Belyea fought an ill handling
car and was running 10th.
In the second half of the race, Meyers maintained that second
position, and crossed the finish line in second.
After post race inspection, the race winner was disqualified
giving Meyers the victory. Belyea
battled through the field in the final 10 laps, getting back up to
fourth at the checkered, and advanced to third as the field moved up one
spot. On Saturday night
at Brighton Speedway Belyea was looking to make it two in a row at
Brighton. The night started
out with a win in his qualifying heat, and due to the opening night win,
he started from the rear of the field for the feature.
Belyea worked through the field and went on to take his third
victory this season, and remains undefeated at Brighton after two
events. “We had a pretty
good weekend”, says Belyea. “We
struggled a bit at Can Am, but Chuck Meyers ended up winning in our
backup car. We also had a
real good run tonight, and we were able to pull away on that last
restart. Hopefully we can
keep it going here and get a few more wins this season”. Belyea will be back
at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park this coming Friday night, and
Brighton Speedway on Saturday night.
He will be looking for another victory to extend his early season
points lead. Greg Belyea and

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Belyea Picks Up Second Win of 2011 and First Ever at Can Am Motorsports Park; Crate Late Model Race at Brockville Cancelled Due to Rain Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
Belyea arrived at Can
Am early on Friday night preparing the car for the night’s events.
When the heat races got underway after a lengthy delay as the
track crew finished working on the track surface, Belyea started from
fourth place, and just two laps in he had moved to third and began to
chase down the leaders. On
the final lap, Belyea made the pass for second, and claimed the runner
up spot as the checkered flag was displayed.
The team made some adjustments to the car after the heat race,
and lined up seventh to start the 20 lap main event.
As quickly as the race started, it came to screeching halt on lap
one as several cars came together, and the red flag was displayed to the
field. Belyea had moved to
fifth before this happened, and when the race resumed he quickly
advanced to third. By the
end of the second lap, Belyea took the lead and pulled away from second
place, leading at one point by a half straightway.
With five laps remaining, contact with a lapped car made for a
tense moment for Belyea, and the caution came out bunching the field
back up. Belyea continued
to set the pace, despite one last caution, and took home his first
feature win at Can Am, and second victory of the 2011 season. “We had a great run
here tonight, and I am happy to get to victory lane here at Can Am.
We were close a couple times last year and we finally got it done
tonight. I have to thank
Lee Gill and his crew for all their help on the car, and I look forward
to coming back here again next week”, says Belyea. The win at Can Am puts Belyea at the top of the point
standing by 20 points over teammate and reigning Late Model champion Lee
Gill. As expected, the rain
moved in Friday night after the final checkered flag and continued
throughout the day on Saturday forcing Brockville Speedway track
officials to cancel their racing program.
The Crate Late Model invitational race will not be rescheduled. “I am disappointed
that this event was canceled. I
think we would have had a pretty good turnout for this race, with many
of our Brighton cars, some of the Can Am cars, and a few cars from the
Brockville area that have Late Models”, says Belyea.
“It is too bad that it wont be rescheduled”. Belyea will be back
at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park this Friday night looking to
repeat last week’s performance and Saturday night he will return to
the Brighton Speedway looking to double up on his opening night win on
May 7th. Belyea
and his team will look to build on their early season momentum and put
his 2011 Excel Tower Service, Gillee’s Auto Truck and Marine sponsored
Rocket chassis back into victory lane once again. Greg Belyea and Excel
Tower Service along with the Brighton Speedway would like to remind
everyone about the Great Crate Race taking place at the Brighton

Revelle – Finish Line Web Design
The night began with
qualifying heats, and Belyea started at the back of his heat race.
With three laps in, he had climbed to sixth, and settled into the
spot for the remaining laps. After returning to the pits, Belyea and his team began to
brainstorm on the changes they needed to make before the start of their
20 lap feature. Belyea was originally
slated to start in the sixth position in the main event, but problems to
the second and fourth place cars moved him up to the outside of the
front row as the green flag dropped.
Belyea took the lead early and fought hard through the first half
of the race. As Belyea
battled for the lead, Gill quietly moved into the picture, and took the
lead late in the race. Belyea
battled for second, and claimed the runner up spot on the final lap of
the race. “We had a good run
again tonight, but need just a little more to keep up with Lee
(Gill)”, says Belyea. We
will take it, and get the car ready for tomorrow night, and hopefully we
can have a good run at the Brighton opener”. On Saturday night at
Brighton, Belyea started up front and avoided several early mishaps in
the first four laps that forced race officials to restart the race in a
single line of cars as opposed to the traditional double file starts.
Once the decision was made, the remaining laps ticked away
incident free, and Belyea drove off to victory on opening night at
Brighton. “It is great to get
that first win under our belt. Hopefully
we can be in contention all season long and battle for the championship
at the end of the season”, says Belyea.
“We have worked hard over the off-season, and we feel that it
has paid off so far this season”. Belyea will be back

night he will be at Brockville Speedway for their season opener as they

Following the tracks of Lee Gill, who arguably has turned more
laps then anyone at Can Am Motorsports Park over the years was certainly

the Frankford, Ontario resident. “Over the
off-season, we teamed up with Lee Gill and his team, and we are hoping
to learn a lot and get some experience”, says Belyea.
“We had a real good night tonight, and I look forward to the

In his qualifying

With it being his first ever visit to the place, the challenge
becomes even tougher. Despite
the ill-handling car, Belyea climbed to 5th place at the
checkered flag. “We have a lot of
work to do before the feature starts, as we are really struggling enter
the corners”, says Belyea after the qualifying heats were over.
“We will make some changes and hopefully get the car working
better for the feature”. Belyea started the
feature from the 10th position, and at the drop of the green
flag, it was soon evident that the car still had major handling issues.
Belyea entered turn one, the car jumped sideways, and was hit by
a couple of oncoming cars. Belyea was able to make it back for the restart, and again
the handling issues were just too much, and the car spun out once again,
causing even more damage to the Belyea’s Excel Tower Service,
Gillee’s Auto Truck and Marine Rocket. After fixing the car
and setting it up for Can Am on Saturday, the team hoped the track
officials would wait out the rain, but it was clear that the track was
under to much water and shortly after noon the decision was made to
cancel the evening’s events for the second week in a row. This coming Saturday,
Can Am will once again try to get in their season opener. Belyea will also take advantage of a weekend practice session
at Brighton Speedway, the other weekly track for the Excel Tower Racing
team in 2011. Brighton will
get their season started next Saturday, May 7th. For more information

As mentioned, Belyea
will have two cars for the 2011 season. One car will be the weekly
car that will compete at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday
nights and Brighton Speedway on Saturday nights, while the other car
will have an open motor bolted in, and will compete in events such as
the Ontario Dirt Late Model Series, and select shows in the World of
Outlaw Late Model series, and other events later in the season.
Belyea has teamed up with Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports 2010 Late Model
champion Lee Gill for the coming season, and will certainly be an
exciting team to watch this year. “We have about 40
races lined up with the crate Late Model this year, running at Can Am
and Brighton, and following the Go Nuclear Late Model Series.
Right now we have about 5 or 6 events planned with the open motor.
We will do the full tour with the Ontario Dirt Late Model series, and
see if we can catch some of the World of Outlaw Late Model events later
in the year”, says Belyea. Belyea, along with
Mark and Angela Rinaldi of the Brighton Speedway have also been putting
together a very special 65 lap Late Model race on September 17th at
Brighton. The race, labeled as the Great Crate Race, will
pay an unprecedented $5000 to win, and the total purse will be $20000
plus lap sponsorship and contingency awards. The 65 laps is
recognition of the 65th anniversary of the title sponsor,
McDougall’s Insurance & Financial. Watch for Greg
Belyea’s 2011 Late Model at the Frontenac Mall car show in Kingston,
Ontario this week. The car will enter the mall on Wednesday, and
the show will run through Saturday. The car will have a new look
for 2011, and you can check it out first hand later this week.
After leaving the Kingston car show, Belyea will show the car at the
Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park car show at the Salmon Run Mall in
Watertown, New York. Cars will enter the mall on March 27th,
and be on display all week long, with the show ending on Saturday, April
2nd.
